![]() Hunter Advocacy Award 2007 Winner - Carol Southworth of Wichita, KS The Hunter Advocacy Award was established in 1998 in recognition of the critical role Kharon Hunter played in the formation of the state organization for family child care providers and her continued advocacy efforts. Kharon was well known throughout the State as a dedicated trainer and advocate, and an ever-present source of knowledge and information to all who knew her. Kharon lost her battle with breast cancer after a 14 year struggle and passed away in December 2000. However, she left behind a legacy including many family child care providers who were proud to call her their mentor and friend. This award serves as a continuing tribute to her life and untiring efforts on behalf of children, families, and the profession of family child care. Provider of The Year Award Winner for 2008 The Sand Box Day Care, Co-Providers Linda Meinert and Kelly Crowder of Leavenworth, KS The Provider of the Year Award is the highest recognition The Child Care Provider's Coalition of Kansas presents to it's members. This award, given annually at the State Conference, recognize excellence in the field of Family Child Care. The nomination itself is an achievement to be proud of. It means that a provider's hard work, accomplishments, dedication to children and the profession have been noticed and are worthy of honor. Selection of a winner is made by a panel of judges from the professional Kansas Child Care Community and does not contain other nominees or CCPC board members. |
Affiliate of The Year Award2008 Winner Capital Area Providers Our Affiliate of the Year Award was first presented in 2004. In order to win the award an affiliate group needs to have: 1. 50% of its membership who are also CCPC members 2. Paid CCPC affiliate membership dues 3. Offered at least 3 trainings a year to their members through their organization 4. Show support for and work with other area Providers Groups 5. Submit information that shows the community is aware of the group and what it offers to Family Child Care Providers 6. At least one member (other than a current CCPC board member) to represent the group at the CCPC board meetings (once during the year Sept. 1 Thu August 31) 7. Shown how the group advocates for Family Child care and children locally and/or statewide 8. Unity among it's members and board members to help them and their business 9. Listed its strengths and weaknesses as a local group |
